Checklist: 8 things to compare
Use the same eight questions for any tool, free or paid. The last column is how Sharp Bets answers them; the sections below explain each point.
| What to check | Why it matters | How to check | Sharp Bets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swedish-licensed bookmakers | Tax-free winnings, Spelpaus and Swedish rules | A list of the books by name | 14, all licensed by Spelinspektionen |
| What the fair price is measured against | A value bet is only as good as its benchmark | A named sharp market and a stated method | Pinnacle, margin removed with Shin's method |
| A complete open record | The only claims you can verify yourself | Every pick with its time, odds, bookmaker and result | Every pick since July 2026 |
| Closing line value on every pick | Shows an edge long before profit does | The closing line next to each pick | Yes, on every pick |
| How it makes money | Affiliate income pulls against the user | Affiliate links, bonus and casino pages | Free, no affiliate links |
| Price and trial | A subscription has to be earned back first | Monthly price, trial, card or email needed | Free, no card or email needed |
| What it promises | A fixed return or "risk-free" is a warning sign | Read the marketing | No promises about profit |
| Speed and coverage | Matters mostly if you bet a lot and fast | How often prices update, live betting | Every 2 minutes near the start; no live betting |
Does it cover Swedish-licensed bookmakers?
This comes first. A tool that scans hundreds of bookmakers worldwide may still miss the ones you can legally use. In Sweden that means bookmakers licensed by Spelinspektionen: winnings there are tax-free, deposit limits and Spelpaus apply, and your account is covered by Swedish rules. Our guide to +EV betting in Sweden explains why that matters.
Ask which Swedish books the tool covers, by name. A long list that's mostly unlicensed or foreign bookmakers is less useful than a short list you can actually bet at.
What is the fair price measured against?
A value bet is only as good as the fair odds it's compared with. Look for a sharp market, such as Pinnacle, with the bookmaker's margin removed by a stated method. Be careful with tools that call a bet value because their own prediction model rates it higher: a model is one opinion, and it can't be checked the same way.
A good sign is that the tool tells you exactly how it calculates the fair price. Ours is on the Methodology page.
Can you see every pick it has made?
The strongest proof is a complete, public history: every pick with the time it was found, the odds, the bookmaker, the result and the closing line. Averages, testimonials and monthly profit figures can't be checked; a full record can.
If the history is hidden, only shown to paying members, or starts last month while the tool has existed for years, treat the claims as advertising. Our guide to spotting a serious service has four questions to ask.
How does it make money?
A tool paid by subscriptions does better when you do well. A site paid by bookmakers through affiliate links earns a share of what its users lose, which pulls in the opposite direction. Neither is automatically dishonest, but you should know which one you're dealing with, and affiliate links should be clearly marked.
Does it promise what a real edge can deliver?
Real value against a sharp market is a few percent per bet, with long losing runs along the way. Be wary of a fixed monthly return, "risk-free" profit, or a guarantee that only refunds the fee. Honest tools talk about closing-line value and sample size, not about doubling your money.
Speed, coverage and price
Paid tools often scan more bookmakers, faster, and include live betting. That matters if you bet a lot and quickly; for most people in Sweden, coverage of the books they actually use matters more than raw speed. Compare the price with what you would realistically stake: a subscription has to be earned back before you're ahead. Our guide to free and paid tools goes through what a subscription buys.
The four kinds of tools
- Free tools with an open record: show live picks and publish every one with its result and closing line. They cost nothing, so the record is what you judge them on.
- Paid scanners: scan many bookmakers fast, often with live betting, usually with a free trial. Check whether they cover Swedish-licensed books and whether their record is public.
- Odds comparison sites: show who pays the most, but not whether that price beats the fair odds. Useful for line shopping, not for finding value.
- Calculators: work out the edge and stake for one bet when you already have the fair price.
How Sharp Bets measures up
- Swedish books: 14 Spelinspektionen-licensed bookmakers, and nothing else.
- Fair price: Pinnacle's line with the margin removed by Shin's method.
- Public record: every pick since July 2026, with its closing line. So far 4,365 picks have a closing line, with an average CLV of +2.68% (95% range +2.38% to +2.97%).
- Money: free, with no affiliate links.
- Promises: none about profit; the record speaks for itself.
And where it falls short: it covers 14 bookmakers, not hundreds, and Bet365 isn't among them; it doesn't do live betting; prices are checked every few minutes, not in real time; and the record is only a few months old, so profit over that sample is still mostly luck. Judge it by the same questions as any other tool.
Common questions
What is the best value betting tool in Sweden?
The one that covers the Swedish-licensed bookmakers you use, measures value against a sharp market like Pinnacle, and shows every pick it has made with its closing line. Check those three before price or speed.
Are value betting tools legal in Sweden?
Yes. A tool only compares odds; choosing which odds to bet on is ordinary betting. Use bookmakers licensed by Spelinspektionen, where winnings are tax-free.
What does a value betting tool cost?
Dedicated +EV tools usually cost from around $100 to $250 a month, with top tiers close to $500 (September 2026). Services aimed at Sweden are often priced from a few hundred to a couple of thousand kronor a month. Sharp Bets is free: every pick, its closing line and the whole record are open, with no bookmaker affiliate links. Whatever you consider paying for, first check that the service shows every pick it has made with its closing line.
Are there free value betting tools?
Yes. Sharp Bets is free: it compares 14 Swedish-licensed bookmakers with Pinnacle's fair odds and publishes every pick with its closing line, with no card, email or affiliate links. Paid tools usually offer a free trial instead.
Do I need a paid tool?
Not to start. A free tool shows you how value betting works and lets you check your own closing-line value before you decide whether more speed or coverage is worth paying for.
