If you just browse
No cookies, no ads, no third-party scripts and no third-party requests: even the fonts are served from this site. The site counts visits without tracking you: a one-way hash of your IP address and browser, mixed with a random value that is deleted after a day, is used only to count how many different people came that day, whether each was on a phone, tablet or computer (only that word is kept, never the browser's full description), and how many of them clicked, tapped, typed or scrolled (to tell people from automated visits). It can't be reversed or matched from one day to the next, and your IP address is never stored. The site also keeps plain totals of button clicks and of where a link came from (the source tag in a link, for example ?src=tg, or just the name of the website that linked here, such as google.com, if your browser passes it on; never the full address). None of this is counted if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Your filters, unit size, language and the link's source tag are kept in your own browser only.
If you create an account
We store your username, a hashed password (the password itself is never stored and can't be read back), your settings (filters, unit size, alert choices, language) and the bets you choose to log: event, market, book, odds, stake, result and dates, plus the source tag of the link that brought you here, if it had one, the last day you used the site while signed in (the date only, no time or address), and anything you send through the "what's missing?" box, saved with your username. An email address only if you choose to add one. No phone number, no real name.
Push alerts
If you turn alerts on, your browser gives us an anonymous push address for that device. We use it only to send the alerts you chose, and delete it when you turn alerts off or delete your account.
Public profiles
Off by default. If you switch it on, your username and the aggregate closing-line numbers of your verified bets appear on the leaderboard and a profile page. Individual bets, stakes and events are never shown. You can switch it off any time.
Cookies
One cookie, sb_session, keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It's strictly necessary for being logged in and is not used for tracking.
Your control
Under My Bets → Account you can export all your bets as a CSV at any time, change your password, or delete your account, which permanently deletes every bet, setting and push address.
Passwords
Adding an email address is optional. If you add one, it is used only to send you a password-reset link when you ask for one: no newsletters, no marketing, and it is never shared or shown to anyone. Reset emails are sent through Google Workspace. You can change or remove the address any time under My Bets → Account, and it is deleted along with your account. Without an email on file there's no password reset, so if you forget your password you'll need to create a new account.
Why we process it, who else handles it, and for how long
The account data is processed to provide the service you signed up for (the contract, GDPR article 6.1 b). The anonymous visit count is based on a legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (article 6.1 f), and it can't identify you. Your IP address is never written to disk: apart from the visit count, it is only held in memory for up to an hour to stop repeated login attempts.
The site runs on a server rented from OVH in the EU, which stores the data on our behalf. Reset emails go through Google Workspace. Push alerts are delivered by your browser maker's push service (Google, Mozilla or Apple), which only sees the alert itself. Nothing is sold or shared with bookmakers or advertisers.
Account data is kept until you delete your account, and then it is deleted at once. Backups of the database are kept for up to 14 days, so deleted data disappears from them within that time. Server logs are kept for 14 days, and since 9 October 2026 they contain no IP addresses.
Your rights
You can ask what we store about you, have it corrected or deleted, get a copy of it (the CSV export covers your bets), or object to the processing, by emailing the contact address below. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se).
Sharp Bets is only for people aged 18 or over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it and everything in it.
What this site is not
It doesn't place bets, connect to bookmakers, or hold money. My Bets is a notebook for your own records. Nothing here is financial advice.
