Match Winner (1X2) betting explained

Match Winner (also called 1X2 or moneyline) is a bet on who wins the match outright, including the possibility of a draw in sports like soccer. Home, Draw and Away are the three possible outcomes; sports without draws (basketball, tennis) only offer two. In a soccer match priced at 2.10 / 3.40 / 3.20 for Home / Draw / Away, backing Home wins if the home team wins in normal time: a draw or an away win both lose that bet.

Why this matters for value betting

This is the most heavily bet market in football, which cuts both ways for value bettors. Pinnacle prices it on virtually every match, so it's the most reliable benchmark for a fair line, but that same liquidity means soft books also try hardest to get it right, so edges here tend to be smaller and shorter-lived than in niche markets.
